Project

The project involves the development of the AstroDatabank – an Astrology based research program to be used by the serious students of astrology.


The Challenge

The AstroDatabank is a compilation of Lois Rodden's 40 years of collecting accurate birth data on over 30,000 famous people and fascinating lives. Included with the AstroDatabank is a full-featured software program called AstroDatabank that gives an easy access to all these data and allows to analyze the data in many different ways.

The AstroDatabank is one of the most popular astrology programs sold and has made a major contribution to the advancement of astrological research.

The AstroDatabank program is web-enabled since version 3.0. The version 4.0 (beta) is released in January 2004 and is packed with many astrological research and analysis tools. 

The AstroDatabank customer base includes over 2000 customers from all over the world (US, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Japan and many more countries). 


The Solution

Our relationship with AstroDatabank started as part of the development team for the AstroDatabank product.

The product development was going on for two years by a programming team working in US. Initially they decided to outsource the part of the development to PSSPL and within next two years PSSPL became the core development team for AstroDatabank after they transferred all of the development and technical support work to PSSPL. 

PSSPL slowly started participating in other aspects of the Application Management and today we have become the most trusted and reliable technical group for handling most of the technical activities related to the AstroDatabank product.

The most significant challenge lies here is providing the after sales support to the customers all around the world.

Data Management Skills The more I think about it the more I would like you to handle the whole process of building a new V3 backend. 
Please make a utility to extract the data and have other members send them to you. 
There are too many people involved and you are the only one I trust to do a through job. I don’t have the patience while I am working on increasing sales. Others too easily get confused between different backends, front-ends, and import routines. The more you can handle through utilities that extract and put back tables the better. 
You can tell others not touch the database for a day or two while you make the changes and send them back a utility to update the master database.
